Hello Neighbor!

Summer is almost here and we’re all busy mowing, irrigation, and pruning. Speaking of pruning...

Entryways: Remember those unplanned community expenses we mentioned? We had a couple of trees that we needed to address in our entryway that pose a danger. Because they were part of our neighborhood’s easements, they were not the city’s problem, so CENA stepped up and took care of it (after multiple attempts to see if there was some way to get the city to resolve it).

Know-sy neighbors: The best deterrent for crime is a nosy neighbor, so let’s get to know our neighbors! A good rule of thumb is to know the houses to your back, front and sides, at a minimum. Ideally, it’s good to know:

  • Names of the people in the house
  • Best contact phone numbers
  • Their vehicle makes, models, years, and license plates

Speaking of getting to know your neighbors...let’s get together! We’re going to have a casual, informal meet & greet just up the street (the time and location were in the newsletter delivered to your home; if you don't have that info, just drop us a note).

This is a completely casual event; don’t worry about arriving late or leaving early. Arrive when you can, and stay as long as you like. Topics will include:

  • Where and when to have our annual meeting
  • Social event preferences/ideas
  • Getting to know each other

Please mark your calendars and join us!

The budget front: A little over a third of our neighbors donated since the fiscal year began in October, but we are not out of the woods yet. Fortunately, we had the funds for the dead trees in our entryways, but that took a good chunk out of our budget. We are still not on a solid footing and have inadequate funds to deal with an emergency. If you have not chipped in, please consider doing so; if you are unsure as to how much, we would suggest $100. As always, the choice is yours.
